Shards of Existence - Sargeras US - Central - PvP

Who are we?
Shards of Existence was formed on the Illidan PvP server in January 2005 by Kaoz and Gaeowyn, coming from an RTS background of Starcraft and the Warcraft series. Since then, we've built and maintained a solid core of tight-knit players who enjoy playing WoW, but more importantly enjoy playing WoW together, through thick and thin, through good times and rough times. We are NOT an uptight guild. We like to have fun and goof around, even during raids: we'll pass the time on boring trash with music over ventrilo, joking around, or highlighting Killsfercake's epic quest to find a girlfriend and love for hockey. Our average raiders are in their early 20s, living across the US and Canada, but we've included members of all ages, races, and backgrounds. If you're overly sensitive to strong language and race jokes, you may not fit in; we'll joke about each others' cultural differences but we've become close enough friends that we can abuse each other without being offended. We have zero restrictions on language for our vent and guild chat. Enter at your own risk.

While we are heavy on the social aspect of the game, our leaders also use their RTS background to delve into theory craft and strategies. We like to try out unique ideas (ever heard of a rogue tank?? yep that was us!), and we evolve our strategies to match our compositions instead of rigidly following what other guilds tell us to do on their strategy reports.

Our goal is to maintain an active roster of between 12-13 members. On average: 2 tanks, 2-3 healers, 8 dps. We've experienced our share of unexpected medical emergencies, power outages, tornadoes, windows falling out, vacations, exams, and anything else you can think of that would keep a person away from their computer. Each of the three primary roles in a raid (tank heal dps) will have a few buffers available. A strictly 10-man roster is an impossibility. By joining you accept the fact that we need to have backups online and this means sharing portions of the raid time with others. But we work hard to ensure that nobody sits a fight more than anybody else, officers included. Everybody gets their share of raiding each week. For progression content, we are likely to choose an optimal raid setup but we will make changes to the raid throughout the night as necessary.

Basic Rules
Our officers are players like anybody else. We want to enjoy the game too, even though we take on more responsibilities for the guild. The more work you make us do, the less we like you.
* No drama please. A fact of the internet and of real life: you won't get along with everybody. If you have a problem with somebody, deal with it maturely and don't let it interfere with guild raids.
* Be respectful to your fellow guild mates and to others on the server. When you type publicly, you aren't just speaking for yourself, you are representing our guild tag. Don't make us all look like douchebags. Swearing, while allowed in our guild, is bannable in public chats so try to avoid doing/saying anything that will result in actions against your account.
* Be as self-sufficient as possible. We don't like to babysit people. Make an effort to be on time for raids, and be prepared with all your consumables, pve specs, and whatever else you need for the raid. Read up on strategies before we attempt a boss so that you'll be more comfortable when we begin.
* You may not hack, scam, cheat, or exploit.
* You must have thick skin and be able to positively deal with criticism.
* You must have a positive attitude towards progression. Our goal in this game is to defeat encounters and then move on to the next challenge as soon as the guild's average is ready for it. We will likely not dedicate extra time to finishing off one person's elusive item if everybody else is over geared.

Who's in charge?
Guild Master: Kaoz
Officers: Fadeleafz, Justinz, Rionz, Grimatoma, basically everyone

*Member ranks are currently split into three categories based on attendance: Special, Not so Special and Nobody. Each has its own levels of flasks, consumables, and daily repairs distributed through the guild bank system. The most active raiders are rewarded with the most gold and flasks to reduce the time they need to spend farming outside raids.
*Alts are permitted and have their own rank.
*Non-raider is a rank we've designated to friends of the guild, or ex-members who have gone casual and no longer attend raids. They have been known to pop into raids occasionally to fill spots, but have no priorities on anything.

Our Raid Times
Saturday - 11:00am-4pm central
Sunday - 11:00am-4pm central
Tuesday - 8-11pm central

Loot Distribution
DKP Page: http://shards.stfu.ca/

The Shards of Existence DKP system favors loyalty and dedication, but also provides the means for newer members to climb the ladder in short time if good attendance is held. We offer to our members many freedoms in their choices which is a benefit to players of all types.

DKP is earned in two ways:
1.) Progressive Content. Raids on new encounters yield the highest amounts of DKP, recorded per attempt. Raiders who actively participate in the learning process will easily surpass raiders who don't. The current value is 20 per attempt.
2.) Farmed Content. When we raid bosses that are on farm status, the raid is awarded a fixed DKP value per boss kill.

Waiting list: Persons who are online and available to raid, but don't fit into the main raid, will earn 100% of the dkp just for being available as a replacement if the need arises. We will regularly swap players in between bosses so that everybody online gets a share of the raid time.

Applicants will earn DKP on our raids at the same rate as members, however apps are not entitled to loots unless a piece is available.

Bidding
When an item drops, the raid leader will announce the start of bids for the item. There is a minimum bid of 50 (the value of a farmed boss) for items, and no cap other than your current total. Players will type their bids into raid chat and continue to surpass each other until no one is willing to bid higher.

Officers reserve the right to interrupt any blatantly unjust bidding. Main specs get priority over offspecs. If you're looking for a PvP setup or offspecs, do arenas and bgs.

Many other guilds have DKP systems with fixed prices that award an item to whoever has the most dkp and wants it. As a result, often a new member is stuck at the bottom of the list, and will always be the nth person in line for any item. With our system, you can bid as much as the item is worth to you. You don't necessarily need to have the most DKP, you just need to desire it the most and have put in the time and effort to afford it. Open bidding is also a benefit to newer raiders in another way. When we kill a new boss, a fresh item may be insanely high priced for the first round of spenders. But as we progress further, and the item becomes less desirable, a newer person may still get it as an upgrade but only spend a fraction of the original cost. You have the freedom to decide how much of your raiding time an item is worth to you. This system kills inflation with new boss kills, and helps new members catchup on gear without throwing their DKP into the negatives; new members will gain access to the top-tier loots in a shorter time than in other guilds.

Special items such as legendaries, epic recipes, and vanity items may be defaulted to a person by our officers. This is where Kaoz dibs Ragnaros mount.

Members who are inactive for long periods of time may be subject to dkp decay. If you are gone for a long time, made no effort to contact us, and there is no sign of a future return, your dkp may be deleted from the website and will not be reimbursed if you ever do return. Try to keep us updated on your situation.

Persons who legit gquit or are gkicked will also have their DKP deleted, and it will not be reimbursed if you are later invited to rejoin the guild (but gl getting a re-invite).

Mandatory Addons
Deadly Boss Mods - Displays timers and warnings for boss abilities.
Omen - Threat monitor
oRA3 - Tank targets and raid status

You must also have Ventrilo voice communication for raiding. Get it at http://www.ventrilo.com

Tryout Information
* If your application is selected for a tryout, you will be invited to the app rank of our guild roster.
* If you are invited, it's because we are in need of your class. However, we may be trying out more than one person to find the best fit, so you may need to share a slot, or you may be tried out together for comparison. We will fit you into as many raids as physically possible to give you a fair chance to show what you can do in a variety of different encounters.
* The trial period lasts an average of 1 month. For whatever reason, your trial may be extended. If you are showing exceptional quality, your trial period may be shortened.
* The first 1-2 weeks of your app will evaluate your ability to play the game. You are expected to be a top tier player and compete closely with our core raiders; first impressions mean a lot so if we're not impressed you'll probably be cut in the first week. If you pass the skill test, weeks 3-4 will help to confirm your attendance/reliability, and get you integrated into the guild.
* Trial members will earn DKP on our raids, but are not entitled to loots unless it's otherwise a dench.

Applying to the Guild
